The objective of this committee is to raise the level of awareness of residents, business owners, and city officials of the crime and code enforcement related issues in South Middle River, and develop strategic plans that execute a zero tolerance approaches to improvement. Foster an environment that supports input from all parties and reaches actionable and effective solutions. Develop and manage effective relationships with Police, City Staff, and Elected Officials to maximize progress toward shared goals and clarify priorities of SMRCA Members and residents.
Some Specific Activity Examples:
Monthly committee meeting offers an opportunity for residents to meet directly with Fort Lauderdale Police and Crime & Code officers to answer any questions or concerns.
Organize and hold crime walks, demonstrations, and rallies
Identify ways to increase priority and select problem “hotspot” properties known to need crime and/or code enforcement attention
Provide ways for residents and SMRCA Members to communicate via incident or code reports to the City of Fort Lauderdale Code Enforcement Department and Fort Lauderdale Police Department
